How to decorate your home to reflect your personalityNovember 30, 2017
When giving your home a makeover, there a plenty of factors to consider; budget, the size of your house and all the members of your family have to be taken into consideration. However, in doing so, it’s important not to lose sight of your own wants and desires when giving your home a new aesthetic. That is, your home should be a reflection of you, and not just you in terms of what you like to do in your free time, but who you are as a person.
With this in mind the team at Unique Bedrooms are on hand to give you some ideas on how to create a home that reflects your personality.
Think about your habits and mannerisms
Before anything else, you need to think about your habits. Are you messy? Clean? Shy? Extravagant? However you describe yourself, these little things should certainly affect the way in which you decorate your home. For example, if you think you’re a relatively fuss-free person, then a minimalist aesthetic could be the best approach. But, if you feel as though you’re a little more out-there, then perhaps you should opt for furnishing that makes more of a statement.
Think about your hobbies and interests
One way of deciding how you would like to decorate home is to consider your hobbies and interests. That is, if you are a big fan of the outdoors, why not try and create that natural feel in your home? Firstly, you could add as much greenery as possible, placing plants and small water features in important areas to make your space more tranquil. Or, you could achieve a similar effect with your colour scheme, namely, by opting for rich, earthy greens in your kitchen or bedroom.
Think about your lifestyle
From a practical point of view, this one is important. That is to say, you have to ask yourself how certain aspects of your life may impact the way in which you should decorate your home. Do you have a house full of young children? Well, if so, perhaps it would be a good idea to hold off on the crystal sculpture that you’ve always wanted. Similarly, if you have pets, you might want to think about ways in which you can style your home to accommodate them by, say, opting for leather sofas.
Take your time
Most importantly, though, take your time. Decorating your home is an important task, especially considering you will be spending a great deal of time there. So, make sure you think long and hard about how you’d like your personality to manifest in your home.
